Troy Murray, a.k.a. TYP, is a native of Detroit, Michigan, where he is living out his dream as a full-time artist. He is building the TYP brand while developing cutting edge art shows such as FusionHD and Controlled Chaos. His popularity has skyrocketed with the development of his personal artistic passion: Creating art on alternative canvasses such as footballs, basketball shoes, hockey sticks and pucks, basketballs, cassette tapes, albums and other untold materials.
His work is sought after by collectors, professional sports teams, musicians, corporations and marketing firms. TYP was commissioned by Little Caesar’s Arena in Detroit to produce two over-sized pieces representing the history of the city’s NHL Red Wings and NBA Pistons. He was a featured artist with the re-launch of the Tretorn shoe brand and worked on new product campaigns for Neiman-Marcus.
His art is deep and thought-provoking while casting light on the experiences he endured through years of addiction and recovery. TYP invests in the lives of others by helping people through their own personal struggles and addictions. He stays very active in his church community as he credits his recovery to God’s love and grace. TYP is committed to impacting the lives of others through his studio and performance art.
