As part of their continued work in the Bahamas, the Premier Foundation is making a significant impact in Nassau on the heels of Hurricane Dorian, providing essential relief for the evacuees displaced by the Category 5 storm. In partnership with D & S Aviation of Ft. Lauderdale, Premier organized their first air cargo shipment of relief supplies on September 20, with a second scheduled for the first part of November.
While in Nassau, Premier Foundation president, Gene Krcelic, met with Member of Parliament, Ms. Shonel Ferguson and the First Lady of the Bahamas, Mrs. Patricia Minnis to discuss post-hurricane relief and recovery solutions. Premier also assisted Great Commission Ministries and Fox Hill Community Center, providing crucial supplies for the growing homeless and hungry population of the island and displaced residents of Abaco and Grand Bahama Island who suffered devastating loss.
“A number of people contacted us after the storm offering significant donations for the survivors of Hurricane Dorian,” Krcelic said. “We felt it was imperative that we become a boots-on-the-ground example for relief and recovery. The Premier Foundation has been working in the Bahamas with children’s homes, elder care organizations, homeless ministries and many others for nearly a decade. The people we have built relationships with over the years are family to us and there is no chance we will leave them to walk the road to recovery by themselves.”
“When a disaster strikes, people jump into action, donating food, clothes, money and other supplies,” Krcelic continued. “As the weeks pass, a new disaster strikes somewhere in the world and other newsworthy stories emerge; then the cameras move on to the next news cycle. What was once on the public’s heart can easily get forgotten. Now is the time for action. The road to recovery will take years and it is vital we continue to walk beside our brothers and sisters in their time of distress.”
The Premier Foundation is committed to being a voice for the disadvantaged and exists to love and serve the impoverished by meeting their physical, spiritual, educational, social, and emotional needs; empowering them to be agents of change in their communities. The Premier Foundation is the charitable arm of Premier Productions, Premier Festivals and Premier Vacations and Events.
Earlier this year, Premier was honored as an organization impacting culture at the 6th Annual GMA Honors and Hall of Fame Ceremony in Nashville. Premier has raised millions of dollars for partner projects and non-profit organizations around the world. Other Foundation projects include: Fellow Countrymen (Greenville, SC), Agape International Missions (Cambodia), Ciudad de Angeles (Mexico), K-LOVE Hope Center (Detroit), and Mount Nebo Church and Community Center (New Orleans).
